Amphi has worked hard to maintain the trust of our community. Evidence of that effort's success has been our community's continued support of our bond elections to maintain our buildings. But that doesn't mean we can't do better. In my discussions with community members over the last months, 5 areas of concern have come up repeatedly:

* Better Transparency

* More Investment in People and Programs

* Demonstrate Trust in our Education Professionals

* Innovate to Attract New Families to the District

* Protect All Student's Rights to a Quality Education

I began serving in leadership roles my second year in the classroom, beginning as a building leader. As a teacher, I traveled to Phoenix with other colleagues, governing board members and administrators to lobby our representatives in the state legislature. As an Amphi Education Association member and leader, I learned to decipher the district's bugget during salary negotiations and I helped to develop many of the policies that govern our district. I also served as Arizona Education Association's commissioner on the Metropolitan Education Commission and as a representative on the Teacher's Advisory Council to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
